Overview
Bethsaida was a fishing village on the northern end of the Sea of Galilee. In fact, its name means “House of Fishing” and was the hometown of Peter, Andrew, and Philip (John 1:44; 12:21). The Bible indicates that Bethsaida was in a desolate, remote place with little population (Luke 9:10). Jesus healed a blind man (Mark 8:22-26) here and miraculously fed five thousand nearby (Luke 9:10-11).

Geography & Location
The first-century Roman writer Pliny the Elder called Bethsaida “one of four lovely cities on the Sea of Galilee”. Yet, like Capernaum and Chorazin, Bethsaida was abandoned and forgotten for many centuries.
Biblical, Historical, & Archaeological Background Information
Bethsaida is one of the three cities in the Sea of Galilee area that make up the Evangelical Triangle where Jesus conducted His ministry and performed most of His miracles (Capernaum, Chorazin, and Bethsaida). These three cities are sometimes called the "gospel (or orthodox) triangle" because they form a triangle, with the points about three miles apart.
